Do you have any articles that speak on parental partnerships in the school and how parents can help develop the school? It would be helpful to me as a parent who loves her children and doesn’t mind helping out the school when she can. But what if the school doesn’t see the importance of establishing a parent partnership?

That (Self Reflection…)is a provacative article.

Self reflection, self analysis, or self preservation,which is the greater priority for the individual? The path to school improvement is paved with a blood rich cement mixed by those who have gone through the process. Yes, the whole is better for the improvement, but no one escapes unscathed. A school plant is not private industry, teaming is not the norm, individualism and isolation are the environments teachers grow healthy and comfortable within. Successful teamwork in the school civilization means everyone has to open their classroom doors to more than just students and the weather, easier said than done. Come to think of it you better duck your head even if you just say it. Change the school, change the world, but stay the hell out of my domain, I mean my room.
Standardization of evaluation methodology can open the doors and discussions among faculty, even if it is based on self preservation. Right now school leadership seems to be most concerned with ADA and public image. The primary components of public image may differ between school leaders, but I think most will agree that failing students appears on every list. Correcting the situation is often a heated debate between teachers and administration.
If the answer to school improvement (PLC for an example purposes, only) does not include a component for returning respect for teachers to school standards, then I see only sporatic buy in from the staff. Cheap pats on the back nor salary increases will suffice. The environment must establish and nurture respect, in all directions.
