James Ellerbe

James Ellerbe has been an educator for 19 years and is currently working on his doctorate at North Carolina State University. He earned a bachelor’s degree in middle grades education with a major in math and minor in English and a master’s degree in school administration from Fayetteville State University. He has successfully worked in both high poverty and affluent school districts and has earned a reputation as a “Transformation Schools” leader.

Presently, James is the Lead School Transformation Coach with the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) for North Carolina Schools. Under his school leadership, James was strategic in transforming the school from a low achieving school into one which met “AYP” and “high growth” standards. His school also served as a model for North Carolina Turnaround Schools Program. Being a passionate professional educator, James is effective at galvanizing a “culture of success” for the best student outcomes.
