Yetunde Reeves

Yetunde Reeves is a former nationally board certified teacher, and currently the principal of EXCEL High School in Oakland, CA. She has over ten years experience in urban education. She holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in History from the University of New Orleans, a MA in Teacher Education from UCLA, and a MA in Educational Leadership from Mills College. Yetunde is currently a doctoral student at Mills College in the Educational Leadership Program and completing her dissertation on creating a college going culture in an urban school.

Under her leadership, she designed a small school, EXCEL High School, with the active participation of parents, students, and teachers. In four years, EXCEL has quickly become recognized for quality instruction, raising student achievement, focused leadership, and a college going culture. Yetunde Reeves has implemented systems and structures to improve the practices of teachers as well as raise student achievement.

Yetunde Reeves is a skilled administrator whose professional development facilitation is practical and relevant. She has worked with College Summit and the College Board for numerous years, and is a frequent presenter at their national conferences. In addition, she also shares her innovative work with high school principals in Oakland, CA. Yetunde Reeves’ work addresses instructional strategies, school re-design, creating a professional learning community, teacher development/support, as well as creating and sustaining a college going culture.
